Both the Interconnectivity and Related Ideas features allow authorized users to establish connections between different entities. However, they serve distinct purposes and function differently within the system.
Key Differences:
Purpose | Scope | Further decision to be taken upon connecting | Type of relationship | What happened of connection happens | What decisions need to be discussed with the CSM | How to Activate | |
Interconnectivity | Indicate there is a connection between 2 entities (similarity, inspiration, relevancy). | Connect between entities across different subsystem OR the same subsystem | N/A | Can be defined as many-to-many, one-to-many, or one-to-one | There will be a link from each one of the entities to the other one, on the dedicated section on the idea page. The entities will stay in their current state. | Type of relationship. What data from the "other entity" should be displayed on the idea page, and available on cross-systems reports | Need to be activated by CSM/Support. No charge involved. |
Related Ideas | Indicate there is a relationship between 2 entities when 1 is the main/leading/parent one, and the other ones should not continue independently in the process. | Connect between entities within the same subsystem | When connecting which idea is the parent idea and which one if the child idea | A parent can have multiple children. Every child idea can have only one parent. | The "child" idea will move to "Duplicated" state. There will be a link from each one of the entities to the other one, on the dedicated section on the idea page. | N/A | Can be activated from the subsystem setting by sysadmin/subsystem admin. |
