At Qmarkets we believe in empowering the Campaign Managers, allowing them maximum flexibility to tailor the idea submission process to the unique needs of each campaign.

This includes the ability to:

  • Selectively choose which submission fields to use, determine their order, and decide if they should be mandatory or optional.
  • Edit the labels and help texts for fields that are designated as flexible. (For more information, see here).
  • Exercise control over their Campaign Categories.

Below, we outline the key considerations, including both advantages and disadvantages, of using Campaign Categories.

Advantages of Using Campaign Categories:

Campaign-Level Autonomy

Campaign Managers possess the autonomy to directly adjust campaign categories to fit their specific needs, reducing reliance on System Administrator involvement. This autonomy is essential for unique campaigns whose specific categories are unlikely to be reused and therefore don't justify altering the system's global category settings. Even when System Administrators are prepared to accommodate these unique requests, incorporating one-off categories can lead to system clutter with options that have limited applicability, making it an impractical approach. This empowerment ensures Campaign Managers can quickly adapt their campaigns to meet audience needs and feedback, keeping the campaigns impactful and engaging without overcomplicating the system with unneeded configurations.

Tailored Campaigns with Multilingual and Contextual Flexibility

By leveraging Campaign Categories, managers can create uniquely focused campaigns without overloading the system with one-off settings. This flexibility is further enhanced by the capability to define categories that are then translated into the relevant languages, ensuring accessibility and engagement across diverse linguistic audiences. This approach allows for a nuanced customization that aligns with the specific themes or focus areas of the campaign, ensuring that each campaign speaks directly to its intended audience with clarity and precision.

Disadvantages of Using Campaign Categories:

Limited Reporting Capabilities

A notable limitation is the inability to incorporate Campaign Categories into sub-system-level reports. This means that insights gained from these categories are confined to campaign-level analyses, potentially limiting overarching strategic insights across multiple campaigns.

Absence of Hierarchical Structuring

Unlike system-wide dropdown fields that can offer hierarchical options, Campaign Categories are flat. This means there's no capability for dependent options that might reveal deeper insights through cascading selections.

Restricted to Dropdowns

From a user experience perspective, Campaign Categories are limited to dropdown menus. This restriction may limit the flexibility in how participants interact with the form, contrasting with the variety (e.g., radio buttons, checkboxes) available in the sub-system form fields.

Conclusion

Campaign Categories offer significant benefits in terms of customization, language support, and campaign manager autonomy, making them an excellent tool for specific, targeted campaigns. However, their limitations in reporting, structuring, and interaction formats necessitate a balanced approach. Understanding these factors is crucial in deciding whether to employ Campaign Categories in your campaign strategy.
