The "Related Ideas" feature is useful during the screening phases and enables connecting between similar ideas, by marking one of the ideas as the "parent idea" and the other ideas as "child ideas".

This will streamline the idea management process, by reducing the number of ideas that will progress to advanced stages, without losing essential information.

As will be explained below, connection can be done with any idea, or specifically with the ideas that are automatically identified as similar.

Once the connection is done, the child idea will be moved automatically "aside" from the funnel to a "Duplicated" state. AT any point, ideas can be disconnected, and then the

The child ideas will be accessible from the parent idea and vice versa via the "Related Ideas" section.

Here's a quick guide to help you get started:

Definitions on the subsystem level that can be done by the subsystem admin/ sysadmin:

1. Activate the feature in a desired state(s):

You can activate the "Related Ideas" feature in any state. Once activating this feature will be available for associated state owner(s).
Qmarkets best practice is activating it during the screening stages.

then activate this feature:

2. Customizable Visibility:

While we recommend full transparency, you can limit the visibility to the "Related Ideas" section to only specific roles if needed.

Navigate to Subsystem Setting > Workflow > Features > and then the to Setting of this feature.

Connecting the ideas:

3.  Connecting ideas that are identified as similar:

The auto-identified similar ideas are displayed on a dedicated section within the idea page.

By clicking the connection icon, there is an easy way to connect between the ideas and define which one of them will be the "parent" and continue the process, and which one will be the "child" and move to "Duplicated" state.

4. Perform the connection from the "to-be-the-child" idea page:

Navigate to the desired idea that you consider as the child idea that needs to be connected to an "already existing" or a more generic/mature idea.
Navigate to the 'Related Ideas' section and click the "+" button to connect it to a parent idea:

Fine the desired Parent Idea from the list and click on the connection link on the last column.

Please note that you can use various filters to expedite your search.

Once you confirm the connection, it will appear in the "Related Ideas" section, and the current idea will move to "Duplicate" state, while the parent idea continues seamlessly.

There is also a way to connect between ideas without forcing the "parent-child" relationship. You can learn about this is this tutorial.
