There are two separate ways that users receive voting points. The first is through voting on other user's ideas, and the second is from other users voting on your ideas. The second option is also referred to as Passive Voting points.

The total of the two will appear as "Points for voting" within the User Points Report

Voting on ideas

When voting on ideas, a user has the ability to gain points  Further details on how to configure Voting points can be found here: How to configure workflow points

When a user votes on an idea, within their profile page, their "Votes" number will increase. This number will decrease if an idea they voted on changes campaigns.

Passive Points

Users also receive points when other users vote on their ideas. A user will receive 1 passive voting point every time a user votes on their ideas. Passive points will be removed if a user removes their vote from the idea.

Points history can be tracked by clicking on the points score within their profile page.

The history will display how many points the user received and for what action they received it from. Any negative number indicates that points were removed.
