The edit button allows a sysadmin the ability to edit all workflow fields that appear within an idea. These fields include all submission and transition fields. This is a useful tool to fix any mistakes; however, it is recommended to be used sparingly, as the information fields should normally be filled in through the workflow states.
As a best business practice, we recommend the author does not edit the idea after submission, as the community content, such as votes and comments, may lose context.
The author can be given permission to edit the idea at the workflow state level. If given permission to edit, they can see the same fields as the sysadmin.
Additionally, under "Role Management," you can restrict the role's permissions to allow editing of all fields.
To enable the role to edit all fields in all states, simply check the box on the role's settings page:
